Axel Luizy

Axel Luizy has a diverse work experience in renewable energy and business development. Axel is currently working as the Head of Products & Markets at Solarise Africa. Prior to that, they were a Special advisor, founder, and shareholder at Kenergy Renewables, where they contributed to business development and handled internal special projects and advisory contracts related to energy, water, and corporate sustainability.

Before joining Kenergy Renewables, Axel worked at InfraCo Africa as the Business Development Manager for Eastern and Southern Africa. Axel'sresponsibilities at InfraCo involved origination of early stage equity investments in the region, with a focus on grid-tied power projects, affordable housing, and water.

As a co-founder and Development Director of Kenergy Renewables, Axel played a crucial role in running the business and setting its strategy. Axel also led project development activities to expand the project pipeline.

Earlier in their career, Axel worked as an Offshore Wind Project Engineer and later as a Team Leader and Analyst for Onshore Wind Development Services at GL Garrad Hassan. Axel also served as a Wind Turbine Structural Engineer at Ecotecnia and as a Wind Resource Researcher at EDF R&D.

Axel Luizy has a strong educational background in the fields of Renewable Energy and Mechanical Engineering. Axel completed their EUREC Master's degree in Renewable Energy Systems Technology at Loughborough University from 2004 to 2005. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, where they studied from 2003 to 2004. Axel's educational journey began at Université de Poitiers, where they completed their Maitrise degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1998 to 2003.

In addition to their formal education, Axel has also acquired several certifications to enhance their skillset. Axel completed a course on "CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGIES" at Cambridge Judge Business School in May 2021. Axel also obtained certifications in "Leading with Finance" and "Negotiation Mastery" from Harvard Business School Online, in the years 2019 and 2018 respectively.
