Caner Komurlu has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and software engineering. Caner started their career as a Software Engineer at Kartaca in 2010 and then worked as a Software Engineer at Gamegos in 2012. In 2012, they also joined Illinois Institute of Technology as a Ph.D. Candidate and Research Assistant. Caner continued their academic journey and became a PhD Candidate and Teaching Assistant at Illinois Institute of Technology in 2016. During this time, they also worked as a PhD Intern at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory - PNNL in 2016. Caner then joined Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Graduate Research Assistant in 2017. In the same year, they returned to Illinois Institute of Technology and worked as a PhD Candidate and Teaching Assistant. In 2019, they transitioned to the industry and became a Data Scientist at Facebook. In 2020, they joined Meta as a Research Data Scientist and worked there until 2023. Currently, they are working as a Principal Data Scientist at Somatus, starting from 2023.
Caner Komurlu holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, which they earned between 2012 and 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from Istanbul Technical University, between 2006 and 2008. Caner also holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, earned between 2004 and 2007. Earlier in their education, between 2003 and 2006, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the same institution. In addition to their formal education, Caner Komurlu obtained certification in First Aid and Emergency Care from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in April 2005.
