Mojtaba Zare

Mojtaba Zare, PhD has extensive experience in the field of healthcare data analysis and machine learning. Mojtaba currently holds the position of Senior Machine Learning Scientist at Somatus, where they utilize various patient data sources to develop advanced models and algorithms. Mojtaba applies techniques such as Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Neural Network Embedding to extract accurate patient information and identify potential diseases. Prior to this, Dr. Zare worked as a Data Scientist at Somatus, where they achieved a 97 percent accuracy in applying NER on textual documents. Mojtaba also used Neural Network Embedding to map patient information and identify diseases based on their closest neighbors.

Dr. Zare's previous work experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at George Mason University, where they developed a machine learning-based algorithm to generate simulated patient claims data. Mojtaba implemented hyperparameter optimization and a sliding window technique to ensure high-quality synthetic data and proposed a novel evaluation measure for the generated data. Mojtaba also worked as a Teaching Assistant, contributing to courses on Data Mining in Healthcare and Computational Tools in Health Informatics.

At Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Dr. Zare worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, conducting research on Semantic Similarity Measures (SSM) and investigating the use of ontologies in the biomedical domain. Mojtaba also studied health data modeling with OpenEHR to improve interoperability across healthcare organizations and evaluated factors influencing the adoption of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) in hospitals.

Mojtaba Zare, PhD, completed their education with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical Engineering from Babol Noshirvani University of Technology in 2011. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Information Technology at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia from 2012 to 2015. Mojtaba then went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Services Research with a Health Informatics concentration from George Mason University from 2016 to 2020.
