Mark Ruis has a long and varied career in the energy industry. Mark began their career in 1998 as a Design Engineer at NAC International, where they designed dry storage, ASME Section III Canister Vessel, concrete container and related equipment. In 2000, they moved to Welding Services, Incorporated as a PM/Dry Storage Product Manager. Here, they built a commercial offering from inception to peak annual revenue in excess of $10M annually and managed a new business product from inception to net profit in excess of $2. In 2004, they moved to Aquilex WSI as Program Manager and then in 2007, they were promoted to Vice President of Engineering at Aquilex. From 2011 to 2014, they worked at Generation mPower (a Babcock & Wilcox Company) as Project Director, NSSS Components and Project Engineering Director. During this time, they provided leadership in developing resolutions to meet budget, schedule and quality objectives. In 2015, they moved to Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) as a Technical Executive, where they managed a diverse collaborative research project portfolio in support of the new commercial nuclear power market. Also in 2015, they moved to Toshiba America Energy Systems as VP of Hydro, where they were responsible for sales, planning, project execution and financial performance for Toshiba's Hydroelectric Power Plant Repair, Refurbishment and Uprate projects in the Americas. From 2014 to 2017, they worked at BHI Energy as a Project Consultant and then from 2017 to 2022 as VP of Turbine Services and Renewables. Here, they had full P&L responsibility for a business unit that supports maintenance, inspection, overhaul and repair for Hydroelectric facilities, Wind turbines plus gas and steam turbines (nuclear and coal). Mark rebuilt relationships with key customers, installed new processes for proposal development and project management, built a renewables sales strategy resulting in 6X growth of over 4 years ($70M+ new revenue), added a training center that has brought over 300 new technicians into the renewables, and added key capabilities (blade repair, laser alignment, field weld/machining). In 2022, they moved to Sonic Systems as Chief Operating Officer.

Mark Ruis obtained a BS in Mechanical Engineering Tech with a Mathematics Minor from the University of Pittsburgh between 1987 and 1991. Mark then returned to the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a MS in Mechanical Engineering, which they completed between 2011 and 2014. During this time, they also obtained a Certificate in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Additionally, they have received certifications as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from The Babcock & Wilcox Company and as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI-OC Project Management Institute Orange County Chapter.
