Katsutoshi Itoh currently serves as a Corporate Distinguished Engineer at Sony Group since April 2024, after previously holding a distinguished engineering role until 2016. At Sony, Katsutoshi has been involved since April 2005 in various capacities, including Sr. Director and Head of Wireless Technology at the Lund Research & Technology Center, overseeing research and standardization in wireless communications, broadcast, media formats, optical communications, and RF sensing. Additionally, Katsutoshi has led a team of researchers and engineers in developing wireless signal processing and protocols as Deputy Head of the Broadband Wireless Application Technology Department. Currently, Katsutoshi chairs the Use Case Working Group at the IOWN Global Forum. Prior experience includes senior engineering roles at Sony Ericsson and foundational research roles at Oki Electric Industry, focusing on digital cellular systems and speech CODEC algorithm design. Katsutoshi's educational background includes a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
