Iko Koevoets

Iko Koevoets has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations.

Starting in 2012, they served as a Board Member at VIDIUS studentenunie, where they represented students in Utrecht and worked on improving their student experience.

In 2013, Koevoets joined Landelijke Studenten Vakbond as a Project Employee, focusing on raising awareness for current issues and organizing events.

From 2011 to 2014, Koevoets worked at Universiteit Utrecht - Plant Ecophysiology, first as a Research Intern for their major research project in the Environmental Biology program, and later as a Student Assistant in Plant Biology. They were also a Member of the Faculty Council, advising the Board on research and education policies.

In 2014, Koevoets joined Université de Liège (ULg) - Plant physiology as a Research Intern, working on a project exploring the effect of flowering on the root system architecture of maize.

They continued their academic journey at University of Amsterdam, where they worked as a PhD Student in Plant Cell Biology from 2015 to 2017. Following that, Koevoets became a PhD student in Plant Physiology at Wageningen University & Research from 2017 to 2021, investigating the function of changing root development for salt tolerance in plants.

In 2019, Koevoets joined the University of Amsterdam again, this time as a Teacher of Academic Skills, a role they held until 2021.

From 2021 to 2022, Koevoets served as a Lecturer in Biology at University College Utrecht.

Currently, Koevoets is a Plant Scientist at Source.ag, starting in 2022.

Throughout their work experience, Koevoets has contributed to research, teaching, and advocacy in the field of plant science and biology.

Iko Koevoets has a strong educational background in the field of biology, with a focus on plant molecular biology. They obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biology from Utrecht University in 2013. Following that, they pursued a Premaster degree in Environment and Society at Radboud University in 2013-2014. Subsequently, Iko earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Environmental biology (plant biology) from Utrecht University between 2013 and 2015.

Continuing their academic journey, Iko embarked on a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Wageningen University & Research in 2015, specializing in Plant Molecular Biology. This program is expected to be completed by 2021.

In addition to their formal education, Iko also holds various certifications. They obtained a Basiskwalificatie onderwijs (BKO) certification from Universiteit van Amsterdam in November 2021. Iko also completed several online courses, including "Programming for Everybody (Python)" and "Bioinformatics: Life Sciences on Your Computer" through Coursera in 2014. They also completed the "Computing for Data Analysis" course, also through Coursera, in February 2014.
