Ziwen Zhao

Ziwen Zhao is a China Desk Reporter at South China Morning Post SCMP, a position held since July 2023, following a role as a Graduate Trainee from July 2022 to March 2023. Prior experience includes internships at Caixin Global from June 2020 to May 2022, focusing on international affairs, and at South China Morning Post SCMP with a focus on diplomacy and the Middle East from November 2021 to February 2022. Additionally, Ziwen Zhao completed a social media internship at the Financial Times in January 2021. Academic qualifications include a Master of Arts in International Journalism Studies from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Studies from Beijing Foreign Studies University, complemented by exchange and summer programs in Arabic Studies and China's Economic Reform at the University of Sharjah and The University of Hong Kong, respectively.
