Waseelah Smedley

Waseelah Smedley has a diverse work experience starting with a role as a Summer Intern at Walsall Council in 2018. Waseelah gained experience in writing for a blog and social media campaign, as well as participating in team strategizing and coordination.

In 2020, Waseelah worked as a Creative Assistant - Audio at That's All Media, where they coordinated activities and management infrastructure for various projects commissioned by the Police and Crime Commission. Waseelah also developed an engagement strategy for new projects, facilitating consultations between young people and policy makers, and conducted research on factors affecting youth violence, drug use, and knife crime.

Later in 2020, they joined Careerlink Ltd as an Administrative Assistant, where they were responsible for calculating hours and data inputting for over 100+ workers in multiple locations. Waseelah also managed recruitment registration and DBS checks.

In 2021, Waseelah interned at Baringa Partners, where they gained experience as an Analyst in Home Office technology implementation. Their responsibilities included conducting change analysis, stakeholder analysis and mapping across multiple government departments, and developing a case for change. Waseelah confidently presented findings and communicated data and recommendations through presentations and Excel.

In 2022, they continued working at Baringa Partners as an Analyst, where they focused on conducting change analysis for a technology implementation project for the Home Office. Waseelah collaborated with government business change department, presented findings to primary stakeholders, and played a key role in improving efficiency in processes and management.

In 2023, Waseelah worked at the Qalam-wa-Lawh Center for Arabic Studies in Rabat, Morocco, where they concentrated on Arabic studies.

Currently, they are working at the Southbank Centre as a Research and Operations Officer, leading a high-performing research team and implementing strategic improvements to accelerate progress towards financial targets. Waseelah efficiently serves as the CRM Manager, handling report generation, list creation, and dashboard development using SQL queries and CRM systems.

Waseelah Smedley's education history begins in 2015 when they attended Lancaster University. Waseelah pursued a degree in Religious Studies, focusing on the field of PPR, and graduated in 2019. After completing their undergraduate studies, Waseelah went on to pursue a Master's degree at the University of Birmingham. From 2019 to 2021, they studied Global History within the Humanities/Humanistic Studies field and obtained an MA degree. In terms of additional certifications, Waseelah received their Grade 8 Clarinet certification from ABRSM in March 2015. Furthermore, they obtained a Proofreader certification from Proofreading Academy in September 2019. Their most recent certification is a Google User Experience (UX) Design Certification obtained from Google in February 2023.
