Denise Koning

Denise Koning, JD, SPHR, is an experienced human resources professional with a diverse background in various sectors. Currently serving as Human Resources Manager at Southeast Michigan Community Alliance since November 2022, Denise previously held roles as Human Resources Director at Cole Newton & Duran CPAs and Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes. Denise is also the Owner of Great Lakes Advising, specializing in human resources consulting and business advising for non-profits and small to mid-size businesses. Prior roles include Senior Manager of Human Resources at Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan, Human Resources Manager for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, and County Administrator for both Otsego County and Wexford County. Denise's early career included a role at the Michigan Supreme Court as Administrative Services Coordinator. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctor from Cooley Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from Hope College.
