Paul Chidley

Lead Hardware Developer at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology

Paul Chidley has extensive work experience in hardware development, electronics engineering, and product management. Paul'smost recent role is as a Lead Hardware Developer at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) since 2022.

Before joining SAIT, Paul worked as a Senior Electronics Engineer for The Rubic from 2020 to 2022. In this role, they developed advanced robotics products for the warehouse and logistics industries. Paul was responsible for creating a network between machines, microprocessor boards, and motors, as well as developing low-level firmware and drivers.

Prior to that, Paul was a Hardware Designer, Manager, and Interim Vice President at Zephyr Sleep Technologies from 2019 to 2020. Paul updated the design for manufacturability (DFM) of the product and established a library of approved parts to ensure consistency.

Paul also served as the VP of Engineering and Product Management at Telematic Controls from 2015 to 2018, and as the Owner and Senior Designer at Outback Tech from 2014 to 2015.

Paul'searlier experience includes roles as a Senior Designer at Airwave Electronics Ltd. from 2013 to 2014, a Senior Embedded Firmware Developer at Blue Line Innovations Inc. in 2012, and a Senior Designer and Product Development Manager at Qubit Systems Inc. from 2009 to 2012.

Paul started their career at Kayden Instruments, where they held the positions of CTO and VP of Tech. Ops. from 1996 to 2006.

Throughout their career, Paul has demonstrated a strong expertise in hardware development, firmware development, product management, and team leadership.

Paul Chidley completed their Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BsEE) from DeVry University, between 1979 and 1981. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including "Robot Framework Test Automation: Level 1 (Selenium)" and "Learning PLC Ladder Logic," from LinkedIn in 2021 and 2020, respectively.
