Geoffrey Klein has extensive work experience in the field of academia and administration. Geoffrey is currently serving as the Vice President at the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) since December 2021. Prior to this role, they worked at Christopher Newport University, where they held various positions including Vice Provost for Research, Graduate Studies and Assessment, Associate Professor of Chemistry, and Interim Associate Provost. Geoffrey started their career as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Christopher Newport University in 2006 and also served as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the National High Magnet Field Laboratory in 2005.

Geoffrey Klein holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry from William & Mary, which they obtained between the years 1996 and 2000. Geoffrey then pursued further education and obtained a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Florida State University, completing their doctoral studies between 2000 and 2005. In addition to their formal education, Klein has also obtained a certification titled "Confronting Bias: Thriving Across Our Differences" from LinkedIn in September 2021.
