Richard Carothers

Richard Carothers, PE, currently serves as a Dam Safety Engineer at Southern Company since September 2021, bringing extensive experience in dam safety and water resources engineering. Previously, Richard worked as a Senior Project Engineer at Golder from November 2016 to September 2021, where responsibilities included performing dam break analyses, conducting dam inspections, and overseeing stormwater management design. Prior to Golder, Richard was a Water Resources Engineer at Atkins, focusing on hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for FEMA projects, and served as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, where contributions involved hydraulic modeling and field reconnaissance. Richard holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, alongside a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Religious Studies from The University of the South.
