Carey Campbell

Director of Nursing at Southern Cross Hospitals

Carey has held this position with Southern Cross Healthcare since 2008, following performance of a number of clinical, nursing education and nursing leadership roles at Waikato District Health Board.

Carey’s role involves leadership in relation to nursing quality systems and processes, and promoting and advancing nursing practice and the nursing profession. She is also holds the clinical portfolio for health informatics and is the clinical lead for the development and implementation of the organisation’s electronic patient record. She completed her initial nursing training at Waikato Technical Institute, and gained a BN through Massey University and more latterly a Post-Graduate Diploma in Health Leadership and Management, as well as a Master in Health Practice at Auckland University of Technology.

Carey is currently a member of the NZ Private Surgical Hospitals Association (NZPSHA), and of Nurse Executives of New Zealand (NENZ), the Clinical and Technical Advisory Group (CTAG) of Health Informatics New Zealand (HINZ) and Orion Health’s National Clinical Advisory Group.
