Karen Merritt

Karen Merritt has over three decades of experience in education, primarily as a science teacher and department head. Currently serving as an adjunct instructor at Southern University since August 2008, Karen leads state endorsed dual enrollment classes in biology. At North Caddo Magnet High School since 1988, Karen facilitates learning across various class schedules and implementations of assessments to meet district and state standards. Karen's previous roles include participation in the ATEEC Fellows Institute and instruction at Southern University Shreveport, as well as serving as a science teacher at Sarepta High School, where lesson planning and high expectations for student success were emphasized. Karen holds multiple degrees from Louisiana Tech University, including a Master of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Science Education, along with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
