The board of directors at Southern Virginia University has a long and varied history. The current president is a former president of the San Diego Temple at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the director of public communications at Geneva Steel Inc. The associate professor at the School of Communications at Brigham Young University is also on the board, as well as the president of the Massachusetts Boston Mission at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All three have a long history with different types of education, from journalism and English to communications and personnel. This gives the board a wide range of knowledge and experience to draw from when making decisions for the university.
