Joseph Phillips has a diverse work experience in mechanical engineering. Joseph is currently working as a contracted mechanical engineer for Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc., where they assist in managing a robotics and autonomy program for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. At Parsons Corporation, they worked as a lead mechanical design engineer, specializing in enclosure design and in-house fabrication. Joseph was responsible for designing ruggedized enclosures and providing design recommendations for high-budget projects. Prior to that, they gained experience as an intern contractor at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division and as a mechanical engineering intern at American Marine Research Company. Joseph also served as an undergraduate research assistant at Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering.

Joseph Phillips attended Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering from 2016 to 2020, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2018, they also briefly studied at UNSW for a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2019, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Currently, Joseph is enrolled at the University of Florida, where they are working towards a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. This program is expected to be completed between 2021 and 2023.

Additionally, Joseph Phillips holds a certification in Top Secret -SCI Clearance, which they obtained in August 2021 from the United States Department of Defense.
