Engineering Intern at Space Forge

Joel Phillips has work experience as an Engineering SPINtern at Space Forge, where they researched the use of additive manufacturing for spacecraft components. Joel focused on space standards, design processes, and manufacturing limitations to optimize the efficiency and benefits of additive manufacturing.

Prior to that, they worked at Project MarsWorks as a Lead Mechanical Engineer. In this role, they managed and integrated the mechanical team's work with the rest of the project, ensuring smooth communication and efficient teamwork. Joel also led the design of a new chassis and suspension for the 2023 rover. Joel previously held the position of a Mechanical Engineer at the same company.

Joel Phillips completed their Master's of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Sheffield from 2020 to 2025.
