Cameron Ekblad has been working in the software engineering industry since 2016, when they joined Spalk as a Senior Software Engineer. At Spalk, they have been developing Go applications and React.js front-ends, as well as architecting AWS cloud environments and deploying applications to these environments. Prior to this, from 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Liggins Institute, providing bioinformatics support to a Senior Research Fellow. Cameron's work included analysing data such as 16S microbiome experiments, protein-chromatin interactions, and mining of Hi-C genome conformation results, which was published in Frontiers in Genetics.
Cameron Ekblad attended The University of Auckland from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Bioinformatics. In 2016 and 2017, they went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (Honours) (BSc(Hons)) in Bioinformatics at The University of Auckland. In 2021, they obtained an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Cameron also holds an EFSET EXPRESS High Proficiency (CEFR C1/C2) certification from EF Education First.
