Lakshmanan Venkatesan

Lakshmanan Venkatesan is an experienced professional with a diverse background in finance and renewable energy. Lakshmanan currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at SPAN since October 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice President Finance at Mosaic (joinmosaic.com) from December 2016 to August 2021, where they managed FP&A, Treasury, and Product pricing functions.

Before working at Mosaic, Lakshmanan served as the Vice President - Finance (Fund Operations) at Spruce Finance from March 2013 to July 2016. During their tenure, they managed the financial, commercial, contractual, and operational performance of a significant portfolio of residential solar photovoltaic systems.

Lakshmanan began their career at KPMG, where they held various roles. As the Director - Renewable Energy from January 2008 to February 2013, they developed and led KPMG's renewable energy project finance practice in the West Coast. Lakshmanan led numerous due diligence and project finance engagements, focusing on investments in the renewable energy sector.

In 2011, Lakshmanan worked at Google on a staff loan from KPMG as part of the M&A Finance team, focusing on energy and sustainability. During this time, they were responsible for screening potential investment opportunities and closing deals in the renewable energy sector.

Before their time at Google, Lakshmanan served as the Director - Transaction Services at KPMG from January 2005 to December 2007. Lakshmanan specialized in financial due diligence and consulting work for Private Equity and strategic clients in various industries.

Prior to joining KPMG, Lakshmanan worked as a Manager - Financial Planning and Analysis at Citibank from September 2000 to January 2004. Lakshmanan also gained experience as an Audit Senior at PricewaterhouseCoopers from January 1999 to September 2000, where they focused on auditing publicly traded companies in the Manufacturing and automobile Industries.

Lakshmanan began their career as an Articled Clerk at PricewaterhouseCoopers from July 1995 to August 1998, where they assisted the team in auditing multinational and Indian clients while pursuing their Chartered Accountancy.

Overall, Lakshmanan Venkatesan has a strong background in finance and renewable energy, with extensive experience in financial management, project finance, due diligence, and consulting.

Lakshmanan Venkatesan completed their high school education from DAV Gopalapuram between 1987 and 1991. Lakshmanan then attended the University of Madras from 1991 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Commerce (BCom). Following that, from 1992 to 1995, they enrolled at The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and earned a degree of Grad CWA in Cost Accounting. Lastly, Lakshmanan attended the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India from 1995 to 1998, where they obtained an ACA degree in Accounting, Finance, and Taxation. Lakshmanan also holds additional certifications in the finance industry, including Series 63 and Series 79, both from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
