Niko Reid has a diverse work experience in the field of hardware engineering. They started their career in 2009 at Apple, where they focused on designing electrical modules and metal and plastic parts for Macbook and iPhone products. During their time at Apple, they also worked on field failures analysis and continuation engineering for various portable products.
In 2016, Niko joined eero as the Head of Mechanical Engineering. They were responsible for developing the mechanical design of the eero Gen 2 and eero Beacon products while building the Mechanical Engineering organization.
After leaving eero, Niko joined Whisper.ai in 2018 as the Head of Hardware Engineering. They managed mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, the hardware research and test lab, and reliability functions. They designed Whisper's first-generation hearing aid system and were involved in industrial and mechanical design, packaging design, audio engineering, tooling engineering, and supplier development management.
In 2022, Niko became the VP of Engineering at BlendJet, a company specializing in portable blenders. They led BlendJet's engineering team in building a range of high-quality products and accessories. Niko is currently serving as an advisor to the company for hardware engineering.
Most recently, in 2023, Niko joined SPAN as the Hardware Engineering Manager. They oversee the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams, where they prototype, develop, and ship electromechanical products. They are also involved in the recruitment of mechanical and electrical engineers.
Niko Reid attended Stanford University from 2005 to 2009, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Product Design Engineering.
