Raffaella Toso

Raffaella Toso has extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology and research. Raffaella is currently serving as the VP of Corporate Development at SparingVision since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Spark Therapeutics, Inc. starting in 2014. At Spark Therapeutics, they held various roles such as Search and Evaluation Lead and Sr. Search & Evaluation Specialist. Raffaella also served as the Research Collaborations Lead, where they managed cross-functional teams and initiated collaborations with academic institutions and CROs to develop potential therapies for ocular diseases. Additionally, they played a pivotal role in IND-enabling studies for two product candidates as a Scientist and Senior Scientist.

Before joining Spark Therapeutics, Raffaella worked at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. From 2010 to 2014, they were a Research Associate and Scientist II, where they conducted experiments related to haemostasis and protein crystallization. Prior to that, they worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow from 2002 to 2007, independently designing experiments and collaborating with the department.

Raffaella Toso pursued their education at the University of Ferrara, where they completed their Master's Degree in Molecular Biology from 1993 to 1998. Following that, they furthered their studies and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from the same university between 1999 and 2002.
