Associate Vice President of Product Development at Sparkfund

Michael Wurzbacher has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles.

Michael began their career as a Sales Associate at The Home Depot in 2009, followed by a role as a Student Lab Assistant at the Center for Drug Abuse Research Translation. In 2010, they interned at the Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass.

Wurzbacher then worked as an Intern under the Director of Legislative Affairs at the City of Cincinnati in 2011. During this time, they managed various side projects for the director.

In 2012, they became a Service Corps Fellow at the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation. In this role, they led a project and gained experience in policy and financial analysis related to local economic development.

Wurzbacher continued their career as a Mayoral Fellow at the City of Providence in 2013, where they worked on long-range planning projects and managed the edits of the Providence 10-year comprehensive plan.

From 2014 to 2016, they served as a Senior Associate at Grant Thornton LLP in their Global Public Sector division. In this role, they were a scrum master and subject matter expert on call center for a financial system implementation at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

In 2016, Wurzbacher joined Sparkfund, where they held various positions, including Account Manager, Manager of Operations and Product, Senior Manager of Product Management, Director of Product Management, Senior Director of Product, and Associate Vice President, Program Development. Michael played a crucial role in setting the product vision, building the product team, and driving the development of SparkOS, an energy efficiency project platform.

Currently, Wurzbacher holds the position of Associate Vice President of Product Development at Sparkfund, where they continue to contribute to the company's growth and development.

Michael Wurzbacher began their education at Covington Catholic High School from 2004 to 2008. Following that, they attended the University of Kentucky from 2008 to 2011, where they graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Biology. Michael then pursued further education at Indiana University Bloomington, where they obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a specialization in Economic Development from 2012 to 2014.

In addition to their academic achievements, Michael has also acquired several certifications. In 2014, they became a Certified Scrum Master through Scrum Alliance. In 2016, they obtained the Managed Change Agent certification from LaMarsh Global. Most recently, in 2020, they completed The IoT Product Manager Certificate Program offered by DanielElizalde.com.
