Dr. Thomas Pirlein

Dr. Thomas Pirlein has extensive work experience in various leadership roles in the technology sector. Most recently, they served as the Group CIO (interim) at Speira and SSI SCHÄFER, where they played a crucial role in developing innovative solution concepts for warehouse and logistics systems. Prior to that, they worked as the Group CIO & Digital at Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller, controlling the dairy segment business and its subsidiaries. Dr. Pirlein also has experience working as the Managing Director International Transformation Organization at ALDI SÜD, the Group CIO & Managing Director at Esprit, and the Group CIO & Managing Director at Lekkerland AG & Co. KG. Dr. Thomas began their career as a Research Assistant and Project Manager at IBM. Throughout their career, Dr. Pirlein has showcased their expertise in driving digital transformation and managing IT operations in multinational companies.

Dr. Thomas Pirlein completed Management training courses at INSEAD in 2004 and IESE Business School in 1999. Dr. Thomas obtained a Doctor of economics - PhD degree from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 1992 to 1995, specializing in Artificial Intelligence, language understanding systems, and knowledge-based systems. Dr. Thomas also holds a Diplom-Informatiker degree in Artificial Intelligence, language understanding systems, and knowledge-based systems from the University of Stuttgart. Dr. Thomas received their Abitur degree from Isolde Kurz Gymnasium, Reutlingen.
