Tom Jones is the current Director of Community and International Engagement at Sport for Life. Prior to this, Tom was the Manager of Sport, Excellence and Wellness at the Richmond Olympic Oval from July 2011 to July 2012. As part of the Oval management team, they led a team of professional sport staff and physical activity programmers in helping the Richmond Oval's transition from Olympic facility to community & high performance sport centre.
Before their time at the Richmond Olympic Oval, Tom served as the Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Games Canada from January 2005 to March 2011. Tom was privileged to serve as CEO of CGC during two Commonwealth Games (Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010) and one Commonwealth Youth Games (Pune, India). Termed the 'friendly Games', the Commonwealth Games are an essential part of the Canadian high performance sport pathway and a significant contributor to international development through sport. During their tenure, they led the CGC strategic planning process; increased organization funding support and capacity; built significant partnerships with National Sport Organizations, Sport Canada and the federal government; created links across the Commonwealth during Canada's bid for the 2014 Games, upgraded CGC's Games preparation and planning processes to improve sport performance, extended Canada's international development contributions, and acted as CGC's voice at all tables in Canada and abroad during their tenure.
Tom Jones has a BSc in Mathematics from the University of British Columbia and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Calgary. Tom also attended Mission High School.
They work with Emily Rand - Senior Manager of Knowledge Scaling, Francesca Jackman - Manager of Strategic Initiatives, and Billie Tes - Manager of People and Culture. Tom Jones reports to Richard Way, Chief Executive Officer.
