Robin van Kappel

Robin van Kappel has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles.

Starting in 2008, Robin worked as a Croupier at Holland Casino for nearly three years. In 2011, Robin transitioned to becoming a Professional Poker Player, initially part-time and later full-time, focusing on Texas Hold'em No-Limit Cash Games.

In 2014, Robin worked as a Project Coordinator at OGD ict-diensten, where they were responsible for coordinating the practical roll-out of the migration to a new IT environment for insurance company Univé.

From 2017 to 2019, Robin founded and worked as a Software Developer at Kaboom Informatics (GTO Labs), where they conceptualized and implemented an analysis and advisory tool for poker players based on Game Theory Optimum. They also developed a pipeline architecture in Python and SQL for generating real-time, on-demand advice.

Starting in 2013, Robin co-founded JOHAN Sports and served as the CEO for six years. JOHAN Sports provides player tracking technology for field sports teams, offering coaches training and treatment advice by applying data science and sport science models.

From 2020 to 2022, Robin worked at TimeChimp, first as a Product Owner and later as the Head of Product. In these roles, Robin was responsible for determining the product strategy and roadmaps for the existing SaaS tooling and leading three agile teams. They also oversaw a complete front-end technology migration and led projects such as developing a mobile app and implementing a product management tool.

In 2022, Robin worked briefly as a Scrum Master at Picturae, a company involved in digitizing and managing collections.

From 2022 to 2024, Robin worked at Mind Your Waste in multiple roles. They served as a Product Development Consultant for a short period before becoming a Product Owner, where they developed a web application for sustainable in-store retail management. Robin later became a Product Portfolio Manager, responsible for defining and aligning the innovation strategy of three companies in the retail management and waste management sectors.

Currently, Robin is the Vice President of Product Management at Sportable, a position they have held since 2024.

Robin van Kappel has a comprehensive education history in the field of Aerospace Engineering. They obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology in 2009. They further pursued their studies at the same university and completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Aerospace Engineering, specializing in Aerodynamics in 2012. Additionally, in 2009-2010, they attended Università degli studi Roma TRE to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Aerospace Engineering. Prior to their university education, Robin completed their pre-university education, VWO, at St. Odulphuslyceum between 1998 and 2004. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained various certifications in agile and project management, data science, and business models. They obtained their most recent certification, Professional Scrum Product Owner II, from Scrum.org in 2022.
