James Eddy

Regional Support Officer at Sported

James grew up in Falmouth, Cornwall where he studied A-Levels in Sport at Falmouth College. Once finishing his studies there, James knew university wasn’t the next step he wanted to take. Due to this, James secured an apprenticeship in Physical Education and School Sport where he gained extensive experience not only working with school students from 6 – 18, but also with over 50s and people with disabilities.

Once completing his apprenticeship, James secured work with a camp in Iowa, USA. During that time, he delivered inclusive activities to people with disabilities as well as qualified as a lifeguard. Towards the end of his time there, he was involved in an exciting project where both mainstream and additional needs schools were brought together for a week full of activity.

Arriving back in the UK, James secured a new role as the Sports and Activities Coordinator for the Dracaena Centre. James’ main focus was delivering school multi-sport sessions, and youth working as well as managing a People’s Health Trust project where he provided physical and social activities to people in the local community over 50 who were at risk of social isolation.

More recently, James worked in the marine sector as a Project Executive & Designated Safeguarding Lead for under 25s. During his 3.5 years, James worked on ESF & Big Lottery projects where he facilitated opportunities for young people and businesses to come together to increase the employment prospects of young people in Cornwall.
