Julie Baker

Substitute Musician at Springfield Symphony Orchestra

Julie Baker serves as the Principal Flute for the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra since January 2022 and as a Substitute Musician for the Springfield Symphony Orchestra since November 2021. Additionally, Julie holds a position as Flute III/Piccolo with the Queen City Opera since May 2014. In the field of education, Julie is a Visiting Instructor of Flute at Morehead State University and previously served as an Adjunct Instructor of Flute at Mount St. Joseph University from August 2013 to April 2022, where responsibilities included managing flute studio operations, conducting lessons, and preparing students for careers in music. Julie’s performance experience also includes over 300 music education concerts with School House Symphony from September 2013 to September 2016. Julie holds a DMA and Master’s Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Cincinnati, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Flute Performance from The University of Texas at Austin.

Springfield Symphony Orchestra

On October 22, 2022, the SSO will celebrate the start of our 78th season of beautiful music in downtown Springfield MA! We are the largest professional orchestra in Massachusetts outside of Boston. During the upcoming season, we will perform 8 professional concerts at Springfield Symphony Hall (six Classical concerts, two Pops concerts), Youth Orchestra concerts, and a multitude of musical and educational initiatives throughout the greater Pioneer Valley. We are proud to call Springfield, MA, our home, and are a vested, engaged partner in the expansion and revitalization of our city, as a regional cultural & economic hub. Join us in celebrating the arts in downtown Springfield! The established mission of the SSO is to maintain and develop a professional symphony orchestra that produces musical performances of high artistic quality; to entertain and educate our audiences; to expand and develop our audiences; and to sponsor related programs and concerts that enhance the musical life of the region we serve.
