Manuel Amunategui

Manuel Amunategui is the Vice President of Data Science at SpringML. Manuel has over four years of experience as a Lead Data Scientist, specializing in medical and operations research within the health care industry.

Manuel was a founding member of the Providence Health & Services Healthcare Intelligence Data Science Group. Manuel focused on developing models to predict readmission rates and no-show appointments, as well as managing pilot programs to test these models in real-world settings. Their work on a model to predict COPD exacerbation readmissions was presented at EPIC's 2015 Spring Advisory Council.

In addition to their work on predictive modeling, Manuel also oversaw the growth of the data science team at Providence Health & Services. Manuel defined team goals and expectations, selected the open-source software stack, created training and development programs, and established data governance procedures. Manuel also guest lectured on data science topics at the University of Portland, Bellevue Community College, Epic, TekSystems, Portland Python User Group, and Coordinated Care Organizations of Oregon.

Manuel Amunategui has a MS in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University, a MA in International Administration/Non-profit Management from School for International Training, and a Department of Psychology - Statistics from San Jose State University. Manuel is also certified by Google in Tensorflow Certified Developer - 2020, by New York University in SCPS Finance, Law & Taxation - Certificate in Financial Risk Management, by Market Technicians Association, Inc. in Chartered Market Technician (CMT), by Udacity in Artificial Intelligence Nanodegree, by Google Cloud Certified in Google Cloud Data Engineer Certification, and by Johns Hopkins University in JHU/Coursera Data Science Specialization.
