Mattijs Arts has had a varied and extensive work experience. Mattijs started their career in 2004 as an Art Director/Design Lead at Stoepkrijt, a graphic digital design studio based in Amsterdam. Mattijs'srole focused on branding and identity design for cultural institutions and small businesses, both online and offline.

In 2010, Mattijs also engaged in workshops and art projects, including the "Youth Detention Project / Teylingereind" and "Woon Atelier." These projects involved organizing workshops and collaborating with artists and designers to create new versions of oneself and promote creativity.

From 2012 to 2014, Mattijs worked as an Educator/Coordinator at CCZ, where they introduced staff, team leaders, teachers, and students to the potential of tablets in education. Mattijs conducted training sessions for teachers and conducted research on the digital potential in study groups. Mattijs also facilitated experimental lessons called "TV" (Technology & Design) for students.

In 2014, they joined ticketscript by Eventbrite as an Art Director/Design Lead, responsible for product and marketing communication activities. Mattijs worked in scrum teams, providing designs and artwork for mobile ticketing apps and collaborating with product owners, UX designers, developers, and scrum masters.

In 2014, Mattijs also served as a guest speaker at "Smart Innovation Amsterdam" and "Health and Education and the Swipe Generation" at Cinekid Amsterdam. Mattijs discussed the digitalization of the school system and introduced new ways of learning, including the use of tablets and innovative teaching methods.

Continuing their career as a freelancer, Mattijs worked as a Designer for Squla and Futurewhiz in 2019. Mattijs provided design services and worked on various projects for both companies.

In 2021, they joined Urban Arrow as a freelance illustrator, showcasing their artistic skills in illustration projects.

Mattijs Arts completed their Bachelor of Design in Typography/Graphic Design from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam from 2000 to 2003. Prior to that, they attended SintLucas for Graphic Design in Advertising/Communication, from 1997 to 2000.
