Jonathan Cook

Jonathan Cook is an economist by training with extensive experience in evaluation, impact assessment and policy research. He has provided expert advice on evaluation methods and frameworks, delivered training and capacity development, and undertaken programme and project evaluation studies for a range of clients. These include UK government departments and their agencies, regional development agencies, the European Commission, and charities. His evaluation experience is wide-ranging, covering business and enterprise support, innovation policy, sector skills, regional policy and local growth. He is keen to try new evaluation techniques to assess complex programmes.

Jonathan's recent work has focussed particularly on policies relating to industrial strategy, innovation and business support. He oversees the firm’s work for clients including the UK Department for Business, Innovate UK, Research England, the Research Councils, British Business Bank and the European Commission. Jonathan has led SQW assignments on R&D support, Catapult centres, demand-side innovation policies, productivity policy research, and programmes supporting enterprise and growth amongst small businesses. He has also led evaluations on City Deal programmes and has undertaken studies on research and innovation infrastructure in various parts of the UK.
