Richard Hindle, an economist and regional analyst, is a long-standing director of SQW. His expertise in economic development, as a designer, appraiser, evaluator and practitioner, includes feasibility studies, project planning and testing, programme evaluations and organisation reviews, with the focus on business development/ innovation, and area positioning, performance and competitiveness. Clients include local authorities and partnerships, government and non-governmental organisations, in the UK and internationally.

Recent projects led by Richard Hindle include: the multi-year evaluation of process, projects and overall impact generated by VisitEngland/VisitBritain's 'Discover England Fund'; economic and business case development for the Natural History Museum and Historic England; evaluation and appraisal of Proof of Concept funding in Northern Ireland, also Invest NI’s business property initiatives and 'fund of funds'; evaluations of Arts Council-led programmes for internationalisation and to support local initiatives; evaluation of Knowledge Transfer, Innovation and Advisory Services under the Welsh Government's Farming Connect programme. He was the city region lead for the Gateway Review evaluations of Local Growth Interventions (devolved funding) in the Leeds and Liverpool city regions.
