James Pinyerd

James Pinyerd is a seasoned legal professional specializing in intellectual property law, with extensive experience in both advising and managing complex legal matters. Currently serving as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel at SRI International since July 2021, James focuses on the development, protection, and licensing of intellectual property across diverse fields, including artificial intelligence and healthcare. Previously, James held positions at Rolls-Royce from July 2013 to July 2021, where roles included Legal Counsel and Commercial Manager, providing legal guidance and managing various contracts and intellectual property portfolios. Earlier experience includes serving as an Intellectual Property Attorney at Ice Miller and as a Patent Attorney at Alston & Bird LLP. James holds a JD from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University, with study abroad experience at the University of Bristol.
