Kai Goebel has extensive work experience in the field of intelligent systems and prognostics. Kai has held various roles including VP and Director of Intelligent Systems Lab at SRI International, where they conduct research in AI and leads innovation initiatives. Kai has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Luleå tekniska universitet and as an Associate Member at the University of Nottingham. Kai has contributed significantly to the field through their roles as an Associate Editor at PHM Society and as a Member of the IVHM steering group at SAE International. In addition, they have held leadership positions at PARC, a Xerox Company, and NASA Ames Research Center, where they led research and development in intelligent systems and systems health. Kai has also worked as a Senior Scientist at USRA/RIACS and GE Global Research, specializing in prognostics and machine learning. Kai has received numerous awards and patents for their pioneering work in the field.
Kai Goebel attended Gymnasium Starnberg from 1979 to 1982. Kai then pursued a Diplom-Ingenieur in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich between 1984 and 1990. Later, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley from 1990 to 1996.
