Derrick A. Fernando serves as the Assistant Principal of Academics and an English Instructor at St. John Bosco High School since December 2011, overseeing curriculum development, authentic assessment creation, and the integration of online tools in English education. Additionally, Derrick directs the Writing Across the Curriculum program, implementing comprehensive writing instruction and fostering inter-departmental collaboration. Previous roles include Dean of Students, AP Language and Composition Instructor, and coaching positions in volleyball and basketball. Derrick also teaches as an adjunct English Instructor at Orange Coast College and has experience as a Professor of English at Loyola Marymount University. Derrick holds a Master of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus on Creative Writing, both from Loyola Marymount University.
