Andrew M. Davidoff is a medical doctor and researcher who currently serves as the Director of Surgical Research and Chair of the Surgery Department at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Andrew has been with the hospital since April 2014, first as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and then in their current role. Prior to their work at St. Jude, Dr. Davidoff was a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Louisville from August 2008 to March 2014.
During their time at St. Jude, Dr. Davidoff has conducted groundbreaking research into the roles of histone demethylases KDM4B and KDM5A in neuroblastoma and glioblastoma. Andrew has also developed and evaluated AAV vectors to deliver therapeutic transgene cassettes including endogenous angiogenesis inhibitors and pre-microRNA-34 family to target glioblastoma and neuroblastoma. In addition, they have constructed and tested AAV vectors to deliver multimeric single-chain variable-fragment bispecific antibodies carrying radiometal(DOTA) chelate to target GD-2 positive neuroblastoma.
Before their work in surgical research, Dr. Davidoff's research focused on oncolytic adenovirus therapy as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Louisville. During this time, they identified the mechanism and significance of CDK2 activation by adenovirus-induced cyclin E and translated this knowledge into the development of a novel oncolytic adenoviral vector targeting cyclin E overexpression in cancers. Andrew also established combination strategies to enhance the therapeutic effects of oncolytic virotherapy with autophagy inducer rapamycin and the dietary supplement indole-3-carbinol. In addition to their research contributions, Dr. Davidoff also managed and mentored two students from duPont Manual High School doing Science Fair projects. The students won 2nd place (2010 and 2011), and 3rd place (2012) in Regional Science Fair, Louisville, KY.
Dr. Davidoff's accomplishments have been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including being selected as a Key Drug Discovery Article by Global Medical Discovery in 2016.
Andrew M. Davidoff received their Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Louisville, their Master of Science in Biological Sciences from National Sun Yat-Sen University, and their Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from National Sun Yat-Sen University.
Some of their coworkers include Robyn Diaz - SVP & Chief Legal Officer, Charles W. M. Roberts - EVP & Director of Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Douglas R. Green - Chair, Immunology Department & Co-Leader, Cancer Biology Program. Andrew M. Davidoff reports to James R. Downing, President & CEO.
