President & CEO, ALSAC at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Richard C. Shadyac Jr. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Richard Shadyac is a passionate healthcare and corporate social responsibility advocate who has dedicated his life to improving the lives of those in need and advancing the mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Under Shadyac’s leadership, ALSAC employees have collectively completed tens of thousands of hours of community service within the last several years.

Shadyac’s strategic initiatives have more than tripled fundraising revenue since his arrival, leading ALSAC to unprecedented success. ALSAC was named the No. 1 Best Workplace for Innovators by Fast Company magazine in 2020 and voted the Top Health Nonprofit Brand of the Year by the Harris Poll Equitrend for nine consecutive years. Morning Consult has named St. Jude the most trusted and loved non-profit brand and today, St. Jude, through the work of ALSAC is an iconic brand known worldwide.

In 2000, Shadyac joined the ALSAC Board of Directors as Chairman and President. He also served on the St. Jude Board of Governors as well as several other Board committees. Outside of his role as President and CEO of ALSAC, Shadyac serves on the boards of Memphis Tomorrow and the Memphis Medical District Collaborative. One of his leadership initiatives in collaboration with other community leaders led to the creation of the Memphis Brand, a first-of-its-kind non-profit dedicated to elevating Memphis as an epicenter of diversity, inclusion and creativity known globally to help drive business and attract visitors, residents and talent.

Shadyac is a well-known speaker and thought leader in the fields of philanthropy, business and innovation. In recognition of his service leadership at ALSAC, St. Jude and his community, Shadyac has received several awards including the 2016 CEO of the Year Award from Inside Memphis Business, the A Person for Others Award from Marquette University, the 2017 Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the Responsible CEO of the Year Award from Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine in 2016. He was also recognized for public service by the American Task Force for Lebanon and the René Moawad Foundation. In addition to these awards, Shadyac has been featured in USA TODAY, Fortune, Forbes, Fast Company and Stanford Social Innovation Review, among other publications.

Prior to his work with ALSAC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shadyac was a managing partner in the Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia law firm, Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell, LLP where he oversaw the firm's Virginia operations in Falls Church for 27 years. Richard has been a member of the District of Columbia Bar, Virginia State Bar, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Arlington and Fairfax County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He graduated from Marquette University with a B.A. in political science and Loyola University in Chicago with a J.D.
