A member of the St. Mark's faculty since 2009, Nat currently serves as the Dean of Academics, and a teacher of The Global Seminar. Nat began his career in education by earning his public school certification at Morse High School in Bath, Maine, and then moved to the world of independent schools, teaching and coaching at Kent School, St. Sebastian's School, and Tabor Academy. In 2008, he took a year away from teaching to launch a nonprofit and sustainable community development firm on Cape Cod, helping to grow and fund local farm-to-school, affordable housing rehabilitation, and solar energy generation projects and programs. Among many areas of involvement at St. Mark’s, Nat is a 2013 Salzburg Fellow and teacher in the summer Global Citizenship Institute, and also led the development of St. Mark’s Saturdays as the program’s founding Director. Outside of school, Nat enjoys exploring the trails and beaches of New England, and when he must be indoors, reading, writing, and preparing meals in the kitchen with his family. Nat lives in Choate Barn with his wife, Jackie, and their sons, Liam and Tobin.
