Saima Hussain

Board Member at Staffordshire University

Saima was born in Pakistan but grew up in Stoke-on-Trent from a young age going on to achieve a BA Hons degree in Business Administration and Applied Social Studies at Keele University. Following her Undergraduate Studies Saima commenced a career in Human Resources within the local NHS during which time she started to study for her CIPD (Chartered Institute of People Development) at Staffordshire University.

Saima then moved to work for Cheshire Fire Service before taking on a role at Rolls Royce plc, where she occupied a number of roles including HR Business Partner, Talent Development Consultant and Diversity Manager, which involved commissioning and delivering the first-ever Diversity Survey for the Company. In 2010 she completed a Masters in Strategic Human Resource Management also at Staffordshire University.

A short role at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare as an Associate Director of HR led to Saima joining GL Noble Denton, a private company working in the fields of oil & gas, maritime and renewable energies. Whilst in role the Company merged with DNV to become DNVGL and Saima’s role as Head of HR was actively involved in leading and supporting the merger and transformation of two large organisations.

As a Fellow of the CIPD, Saima is committed to ensuring the highest standard of practice in HR and L&D and has championed diversity throughout her personal and professional life. She continues to support community and organisation development by providing mentorship and coaching support as well as being an active member of her local communities.

Saima moved back to Stoke-on-Trent to be closer to family and during the end of 2020 took up the role of Human Resources Business Partner at Staffordshire University.
