Jeffrey Schwegman

Assistant Dean, Humanities & Social Sciences at Stanford University

Working with the senior associate dean for the humanities and arts, Jeff coordinates H&S initiatives to promote the humanities and arts. In particular, he endeavors to increase undergraduate engagement in these disciplines, raise their profile at Stanford, and develop career exploration resources for majors and doctoral students. He collaborates with many other offices, from Undergraduate Admissions to Stanford Career Education (BEAM).

Prior to joining H&S in 2014, he taught freshmen in the Thinking Matters and IHUM programs and served as an instructional consultant for the Center for Teaching and Learning. He also held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Max Plank Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. Jeff has a doctorate in history from Princeton University (2008) and a bachelor's in history from Stanford (2001).

Outside work, Jeff enjoys hiking, wildlife photography, and composing classical music. He also volunteers as a docent at Stanford's Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve.
