Maike van Niekerk

Maike van Niekerk, PhD, is an accomplished healthcare professional and researcher with extensive experience in oncology and psychological wellness. Currently serving as a Spin Instructor at SPINCO, Maike donates all earnings to Katrin's Karepackage, which assists cancer patients with travel costs. As the Founder and CEO of Katrin's Karepackage, established in 2014, Maike has dedicated efforts to support individuals facing cancer challenges. Prior roles include consulting for the World Health Organization and participating in significant research on Indigenous health disparities at Dalhousie University, where Maike co-developed innovative programs addressing the psychological impacts of historical trauma. Educational background includes a PhD in Psychiatry from the University of Oxford and ongoing medical education at Stanford University. Maike has also contributed to various health initiatives and authored "Faces Facing Cancer," highlighting the experiences of cancer patients in Nova Scotia.
