Betty Thomas has over two decades of professional experience in public sector administration and higher education governance. Betty served as the Head of HR & Business Resources at The British University in Dubai from 2006 to 2016, where they led various functions of Human Resources and aligned the HR strategy with business objectives. Prior to that, they worked as an HR Administrator at International Maritime L LC from 2005 to 2006, and as an HR Officer at Albanna Engineering from 2003 to 2005. Betty also worked as a Program Manager at Intel from 2000 to 2002. Currently, they are working as the Head of Human Resources Development at Starfish Accelerator Partners. Additionally, they have experience as an independent Human Resources Consultant, specializing in policy, people, and organizational development.

Betty Thomas obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from St Teresas College in the years 1975 to 1977. Later, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Strategic Human Resources Management from The British University in Dubai, in association with Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, from 2008 to 2011. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications including a Certificate in Personnel Practice from the Certified Institute of Personnel and Development of UK (CIPD) in 2008, a Certified Lead Quality Auditor certification in 2005 from Bureau Veritas, and a Cambridge International Diploma in HRM (advanced level) from the University of Cambridge in 2004. Betty also completed a course on Managing Employee Compensation from Coursera Course Certificates in 2016.
