Barkha Herman

Barkha Herman has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Barkha started their career as a Sr. Software Engineer at Mainstreet Commerce, where they developed commerce sites for Gorillaz.com, Nulo.com, and Rainbird. Barkha then joined JM Family Enterprises as a Consultant, where they wrote and deployed various applications to integrate legacy systems and improve payroll and financial systems.

In 2010, Barkha founded SweetLeets, LLC, a company focused on custom software development for car dealerships. Barkha served as the Managing Partner at CarTHINK, another software company specializing in creating custom software for car dealerships. During this time, they also co-founded MyGuides, LLC, a company that built advanced interactive destination/exhibit guides.

In 2016, Barkha founded Whole Yachts, Inc., a company focused on creating custom software for the yachting industry. Barkha then worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Senior DevOps Engineer at AgileThought, where they contributed to various software development and DevOps projects.

Barkha joined Microsoft in 2018 as a Sr. Cloud Solution Architect and later transitioned to the role of Partner Solutions Architect. Barkha worked with Microsoft until 2022. In 2018, they also founded South Florida Women in Technology, a non-profit community for women in technology, where they organized events and provided support and opportunities for professional growth.

Currently, Barkha is working as a Developer Advocate for StarTree and Apache Pinot. Their responsibilities include speaking, writing, creating videos, and promoting these technologies. With their diverse experience and expertise in software development, they have made significant contributions throughout their career.

Barkha Herman obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Hotel/Motel Administration/Management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition in Mumbai from 1985 to 1988. Barkha then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from Florida Atlantic University from 1995 to 2008.

In addition to their educational background, Barkha holds various certifications from Microsoft, including the Microsoft Global Challenger obtained in March 2020. Barkha is also a Microsoft Certified Trainer for the 2019-2020 period. Barkha has further certifications as a Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate and a Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, although the specific dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
