Anat Shiftan

Professor SUNY New Paltz at State University of New York at New Paltz

Anat Shiftan is a professor at SUNY New Paltz since August 2003, serving as the Head of the Ceramics Program within the Art Department, where responsibilities include teaching various aspects of ceramics and overseeing both undergraduate and graduate studies. Shiftan teaches ceramics technical skills, theory, and art to BA, BFA, MFA, and Art Education students. Prior to this, Shiftan held the position of Director of Education and Designer at Pewabic Pottery from 2006 to 2009, where coordination of educational programs and outreach initiatives took place. Shiftan’s earlier role at Pewabic Pottery from 1986 to 1996 as Production Manager involved overseeing production activities and public art projects. Educational qualifications include an MFA in Ceramics from CAA Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BA in English Literature and Philosophy from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
