Maria Persson Gulda

Maria Persson Gulda serves as Chief Project Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Stegra, where efforts focus on constructing the world's first large-scale fossil-free steel plant in Boden-Luleå, Sweden, set to begin production in 2026 to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. Additionally, Maria holds board member positions at PERMASCAND and the Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability. Previous experience includes a partnership at McKinsey & Company, concentrating on the metals, mining, and paper industries, and a Ph.D. candidacy in Applied Physics at Harvard University, where research involved studying metallic structures and defects. Maria's leadership roles also include serving as New England President of SWEA International and founding the Harvard Student Club of Sweden. Educational credentials encompass a Ph.D. and MS in Applied Physics from Harvard University, along with a BS in Engineering Physics, Economics, and Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder.
