Henk Verstraete

Partner, Brussels at Stibbe

Henk Verstraete is a partner in their Brussels tax practice. He focuses on Belgian and international tax advisory, transactional and litigation work.

Henk has extensive experience in a wide range of tax matters involving complex tax litigation, tax advisory work, transfer pricing matters, as well as tax work in corporate and financial transactions. He has a strong track record in assisting clients in their negotiations with tax authorities and the public prosecutor, and he represents clients before the administrative and judicial courts.

After graduating with a Master of Laws Degree from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven 1999), Henk obtained an LL.M in taxation from the New York University School of Law in 2003. He also studied law at the University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor, USA, in 1999.

Henk is an active member of the Tax Institute at KU Leuven where he is currently a visiting professor. He is also a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the Tax Practice Council of the International Tax Program at NYU School of Law.

Since 2010, Henk is a professor at the Fiscale Hogeschool Brussel. He speaks at (tax) seminars and authors books and articles on tax topics regularly. He is also the editor of Tijdschrift Beleggingsfiscaliteit / Revue Fiscalité des Placements.

Henk joined the Brussels office of Stibbe as partner in 2018, after having been a tax partner at another law firm in Brussels since December 2008.
