Samir Das is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in computer science and engineering. Currently serving as Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University since August 2002, Samir holds multiple roles including Professor, Associate Dean for Research in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Director of Network Technologies at the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT). Prior to this, Samir was an Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati and an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Samir's early career includes a position as a Research Engineer at the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata. Samir earned a PhD in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecom Engineering from Jadavpur University.
