This role is work from home/remote and can be based in The Americas or Europe. However this role will involve travelling approximately 10% of the time (primarily US and Europe).

The Role

StorMagic is recruiting a Product Manager, reporting to the chief marketing and product officer, to help us plan our future product direction and bring those features and products to market. As we are a small, but fast growing company this role will involve working with all departments within the company - including the executive team - without the typical “bureaucracy” found in larger organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Product vision - Help us define our product vision and shape the short- and long-term product roadmaps. Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.
  • Roadmap development - Research markets, gather customer requirements, talk to analysts, understand the competition, work with engineering on “what will it take” and use your knowledge and experience to propose roadmap ideas for approval by the executive team.
  • Requirements Management & Specification - the clear definition and documentation of functional and non-functional software requirements. This includes the identification, exact specification, prioritisation and validation of requirements so that these can be planned across various product releases.
  • Product Planning  - For new products on the roadmap, scope and prioritize features based on business and customer requirements as well as the capacity of the development team. Work closely with engineering to ensure they have necessary product requirements to execute on time and with high quality.
  • Product Launch - Provide all the product info needed by the rest of the company to drive and execute on world-class global launches and lead the cross-functional team to execute.
  • Product Expert - Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding, and support the sales team by interacting with customers and partners, writing white papers and solution briefs - represent the company and our products to help drive revenue.

Requirements and Skills:

  • 5+ years of professional work experience in software product management

  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience with virtual servers and storage. Ideally, having product managed a virtual SAN and /or hyperconverged solution.

  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management

  • Strong track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle from roadmap planning through launch.

  • Proven ability to make tradeoffs between features, schedule, and costs based on their relationship to customer needs, business goals, software architecture constraints, and software development team capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to write internal and externally facing documents (MRDs, Launch guides, white papers, etc.) as well as detailed product requirements.

  • Have led development teams using an agile process, writing requirements, using Jira and Confluence. Helping to ensure all involved parties are aligned with releases and dates.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and lead multi-team projects with varied stakeholders such as engineers, sales, and marketing staff

  • Excellent PowerPoint creation and presentation skills - particularly with customers and executives

  • Be data driven, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Understands licensing and pricing strategies and has successfully launched products with commercial success.

  • Willing/ability to travel approximately 10-20% of the time

Education and experience:

  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum 5 years professional work experience as a product manager (this does not include product marketing).

  • Experience with server virtualization, hyperconverged infrastructure and virtual SAN software.
