Sara Carmichael is an experienced professional in environmental health and water quality management, currently serving as the Watershed Coordinator for Story County since July 2021. In this role, Sara organizes collaborations among landowners, partners, and governments to achieve nutrient pollution reduction goals and leads water quality monitoring efforts involving over 25 volunteers. Previously, Sara held the position of Executive Director at Iowa Rivers Revival, where responsibilities included stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and environmental awareness initiatives. Additionally, Sara served as the Water Fluoridation Coordinator at the Iowa Department of Public Health, monitoring fluoride levels for millions and promoting community water fluoridation. Academic credentials include a Master of Public Health in Global Environmental Health from Emory University and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy, Public Health from the University of South Florida.
