Joshua Chen

Joshua Chen is a Senior Data Scientist at STR since September 2022, specializing in high-quality software production within a hybrid research and production environment. Known for expertise in statistical inference, modeling, and machine learning, Joshua works with heterogeneous data sources and serves on the Software Working Group. Previously, as a Data Scientist at Allbirds, models built for substitute product email campaigns drove a projected revenue increase. Joshua's academic background includes a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computational Science, Engineering, and Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin, complemented by graduate studies in Computational Mechanics and Design at Carnegie Mellon University. Early career roles include a graduate teaching assistantship at Carnegie Mellon and a dual role as Capital Campaign and Land Development Director at AFC.
