Fred Blythe has over 29 years of work experience in various roles in the fields of accounting, finance, and information technology consulting. Fred started their career as a Supervising Senior at KPMG US in 1992, where they directed and supervised fiscal and regulatory audits and special projects for a variety of industry sectors. Fred then worked as a Controller at Shelburne Farms for a year before returning to KPMG US as a Supervising Senior for four years. In 1999, they joined Middlebury College as an Assistant Controller and eventually became the Associate Controller, where they managed fiscal operations and staff for a private liberal arts college with an annual operating budget of $144 million.
In 2005, Fred began working as a Process Consultant at Ellucian, where they performed consulting services on the Banner ERP system for higher education clients. From 2008 to 2017, they worked at the Colorado Community College System as a Project Manager/Business Analyst and later as a Sr Project Manager/Business Analyst. Their responsibilities included managing and planning IT projects, leading project teams, and supervising technical resources throughout project lifecycles, as well as performing business analysis and quality assurance for finance, accounts receivable, and HR/payroll areas for 13 colleges and system office.
From 2017 to 2022, Fred worked at Strata Information Group as a Sr Consultant, where they reviewed current financial operations and provided best practices recommendations to higher education clients and also worked with a large state-wide public higher education system to develop a Shared Service Center and implement an ERP system in a shared environment. Fred then joined Ellucian in 2020 as a Principal Software Analyst and became a Principal Consultant in 2021, where they were responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying the Finance component of an integrated ERP system for multi-institutional state-supported higher education organizations. Fred also supervised and managed the daily activities of the project team during software implementation and performed system analysis to provide best practices recommendations for multi-institutional state-supported higher education organizations.
In 2022, Fred returned to Strata Information Group as a Senior Consultant, where they continue to work in a consulting role.
Fred Blythe obtained a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Oklahoma State University, and a Master of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from the University of Colorado Boulder. Fred has also obtained various certifications, including PMP from the Project Management Institute and SQL: Data Reporting and Analysis from LinkedIn.
